This is a family friendly con, nothing that could be over PG-13 is allowed. Art Show staff will judge.

Photography entries are allowed on a conditional basis. (see below)

Participation Rules

You must have a convention badge to enter the show.

Participation in the Art Show is open to all convention attendees (including those selling in Artist Alley), as well as any member of the convention staff or volunteer crew.

You must be able to drop off/pick-up your art during the designated times.

Art may only be entered by the artists themselves, or by an agent/proxy acting on behalf of the artist. The agent information on the sign-in sheet will apply to any person who enters art on behalf of an artist, and/or picks up art on the artist’s behalf.

Artists can choose to have their art For Sale or Not for Sale.

The Art Show is for unique, single pieces of artwork; not bulk sale. You may attach a card with your information, but you can not do sales through Art Show.

There is a maximum of 3 entries per person.

Space availability is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Artists must be able to pick-up their artwork (or money if sold) during the designated time.

Artwork picked up before the official Art Pickup time will be ineligible to receive any awards/prizes.

We will not release any art to anyone other than the artists themselves or the agent acting on behalf of the artist listed on the sign-in sheet.

ID is required to pick up artwork/money! If someone other than the artist/agent is sent they must have the ID of the artist/agent.

Any artwork that is not picked up by the end of the designated pick-up time will become property of HachiCon/SLAE and will be disposed of at the discretion of and in a manner chosen by the convention staff.

Flat Artwork / 2-D

Pencil/ink drawing, oil/acrylic painting, watercolor, digital graphics, photography, etc.

All 2-D artwork must be mounted, matted, or framed, and suitable for hanging. You must use heavy stock mattes, foam board, or frames. You may not use construction paper, thin paper backings, or sheet protectors/lamination. If a piece is deemed unsuitable, as determined by the Art Show staff, it will not be allowed in the show.

Pieces may be suspended with clips or hooks, please prepare your pieces accordingly. We will provide hooks and clips to hang your works, however, we will not be held responsible for any damage to any artwork that is not made suitable for hanging by the artist.

For safety reasons, we will not allow any submissions to sit on the floor.

Exceptions may be granted for freestanding submissions; these, however, will need to be cleared beforehand through the Art Show staff.

Any work that requires special care or display apparatus will need to be provided by the artist.

These requirements are to ensure the safety of the patrons and the artwork.

Swipes and digital images.

A swipe is a direct copy of official art, screenshot, or other fan-art. Any piece that is determined to be a swipe will be removed from the show.

No A.I. usage is allowed. Digital artwork must be your own design and created by you.

Photography

We want photo entries to be for the artistic skill of the photographer.

Photography of cosplay will be subject to review. We would like the photo to be viewed for the skill of the photographer, not for the cosplay of the subject. Photographs of cosplay that have been manipulated to enhance the theme or mood of the piece will be acceptable, again, upon review by the Art Show staff.

Models/sculptures

Clay, plaster, epoxy/resin, wood, metal, etc.

3D printed items must have been fully designed by you, not just a remix of another design, and need to be trimmed/sanded and artistically painted.

All free-standing 3-D works should have good support. These pieces will be placed on available table space.

For safety reasons, we will not allow any submissions to sit on the floor. Exceptions may be granted for freestanding submissions; these, however, will need to be cleared beforehand through the Art Show staff.

Any work that requires special care or display apparatus will need to be provided by the artist.

Other 3-D Mediums

Amigarum/plushies, knitted/crochet pieces, cross-stitch/needlepoint, sewing, and paper crafts must all come from your own design.

Items that are made from a pre-existing pattern will be disqualified.

Molds and pre-fabricated forms.

If your base is from a mold you didn’t design or was bought pre-formed it must be basic enough that the way you painted/decorated it is the most important part and what is being judged. Miniatures and fully stylized bases that have just been painted go against our no    pre-existing pattern policy.

Selling Art

All participants in the Art Show can choose to have their art For Sale or Not for Sale.

It is up to you, the seller of the art, to determine how much you want to sell your art for.

Please be aware that once you set a price you must sell that piece at that price if there is a bid placed. You cannot take back or change the sale price or the piece of art once that bid is met. If your work sells it can not be taken back.

A 10% consignment fee of all art sold through the show will be kept by HachiCon.

There will be 1 ‘Judges Choice’ and 1 ‘Attendee Vote’ award for each catagory.
